Problem

Finding a model-agnostic solution for teams who want choice

Building tomorrow’s technologies requires AI that keeps pace with choice. From robotic submarines to autonomous ultrasound testing systems, Rosenxt develops solutions for challenges where answers often don’t exist. To support teams working at the technological frontier, the company needed an AI environment that was as flexible, forward-looking, and model-agnostic as its own innovation approach.

“We wanted to be able to try different LLMs and always have the latest models,” says Alexandra Kersten Mota, Data Engineer, Rosenxt. “A model-agnostic approach was very important to us.” Rosenxt was also looking into improving governance. “We have more than 740 employees, and we were starting to get a lot of shadow AI usage,” says Alexandra. “We wanted to have a general-purpose AI tool that we could trust and make it available.”

Making the most from integrations

Rosenxt decided to use Perplexity Enterprise because it offers both flexibility and control: Perplexity is model agnostic but also offers granular admin controls with enterprise-grade security features that the company needed, says Alexandra.

Another big factor in their decision was the fact that Perplexity is integrated with the tools that Rosenxt uses every day through app connectors. Those include tools like Microsoft Excel for data analysis, and Databricks for data lakehousing. “We can granularly manage who can use which connectors,” says Alexandra. “I really like that you can actually say exactly what you can do with connectors.”

Using Perplexity’s connectors makes it easy for Rosenxt to tailor tasks to their business, then update them as their needs evolve. “Computer helps me get very good integrations, to do some tasks which otherwise would be a lot of manual work and testing,” says Jannik Mersch, Head of Data at Rosenxt. “I’m able to get to answers faster because Computer connects to the tools and sources I already use.”

Accelerating technical progress

Perplexity is also helping Rosenxt generate insights, whether it’s tapping premium data sources like Statista and Crunchbase directly inside Computer or running Deep Research to compile market and technology insights minutes. Being able to pull trusted premium sources and run deep research in one place gives them a much sharper view, without switching between tools.

“We’re using Perplexity Computer to innovate even further,” says Jannik. “We use Computer to parse documents, scout potential new technologies, and create insights about other services and products already on the market. Colleagues know the market already, but to understand the market better and add more knowledge, that's very interesting.”

Heavily used across teams

As an English-speaking company operating in multiple countries, Rosenxt found that Perplexity adapts to any linguistic need. Their employees, some of whom speak four languages or more, are constantly switching between various languages on Perplexity. “Perplexity is part of our every day, almost every hour,” says Alexandra “There's no certain team that uses it. It's really for everyone.”

Eliminating manual pain points

Since they started using Perplexity, Rosenxt has become even more efficient. The data team used Computer to clean up legacy banking data. In the past, they would have had to undergo a painstaking process of correcting the data, then uploading it back into their system one batch at a time. Instead, Perplexity enabled the project team to complete a job in a dramatically shorter time.

The Business Software team used Perplexity Computer to create an app that conducts maturity assessments of its most valuable software solutions. The team developed the app to rapidly analyse Rosenxt’s use of each solution by different stakeholders based on data rather than intuition.

In the end, the insights helped optimise and align Rosenxt’s roadmap planning and capacity assignment. Developing an app from the original Excel file would have been a very time-consuming process, says Katharina Bojer, Workgroup Lead for Business Software. Katharina says she was able to turn a year-long Excel-based modelling project into a nearly ready-to-use app in just 20 minutes of prompting, Katharina says. “The tool spent under two hours building it,” she says. “I'm very impressed with it.”

The data team used Computer to make internal knowledge more easily accessible. They wanted employees to be able to ask questions and get relevant answers in one place, instead of having to search through different documents and systems. Computer helped them develop ideas and structure the concept for nxti, an internal knowledge assistant. “Computer enabled us to move from an initial idea to a practical internal knowledge assistant more quickly,” says Jannik.

Rosenxt is looking forward to generating even greater efficiencies with Perplexity in the future. “I see a lot of potential with more connections, making Perplexity like a companion, rather than somewhere we go,” says Alexandra.

Tips

Tips for using Computer to drive innovation

Tip 1 - Identify new market opportunities

Use Perplexity to help stay ahead of the competition. Use Perplexity Search and Deep Research to identify new products and services in the market, then suggest potential gaps and areas for growth within your organisation.

Tip 2 - Use Computer as a strategic thinking partner

Connect data and tools to Computer securely, and embrace exploration. Ask Computer to propose different scenarios based on data, then iterate with more prompts while building apps or insights.

Tip 3 - Analyse quantitative and qualitative data for patterns

Lean on Computer to analyse large sets of data, identify patterns in multiple documents, or track different types of information. Then create dashboards that make it simpler for anyone to interpret the data and take action.
