Comstock Resources has successfully expanded its Western Haynesville footprint to 518,000 net acres, with 80% of this acreage already held by production (HBP), requiring 70 additional wells over the next five years to secure the remaining acreage.
The company has significantly reduced drilling and completion costs in the Western Haynesville, with drilling costs down 33% and completion costs down 28% compared to 2022 levels, and anticipates further cost reductions as operations continue.
In 2025, Comstock plans to drill 20 wells and turn 17 wells to sales in the Western Haynesville, while also running two to three rigs in the legacy Haynesville area, depending on gas prices, to maintain production levels and HBP commitments.
The company has hedged approximately 50% of its 2025 natural gas production at an average price of $3.48 per Mcf, providing downside protection and supporting its drilling program and financial stability.
Comstock aims to deleverage its balance sheet significantly by 2026, targeting a leverage ratio of 1.5x, while continuing to focus on organic growth and maintaining operational discipline in response to market conditions.
