CVBF reported Q1 2025 net earnings of $51.1 million ($0.36 per share), marking its 192nd consecutive quarter of profitability and declared a $0.20 per share dividend for the 142nd consecutive quarter.
Net interest margin expanded to 3.31% (up from 3.18% in Q4 2024), driven by balance sheet deleveraging and reduced borrowings; net interest income was $110.4 million, flat sequentially but down year-over-year due to lower average earning assets.
Total loans declined 4.6% year-over-year to $8.36 billion, mainly due to reductions in dairy/livestock and commercial real estate loans, but loan originations were up 13% year-over-year with strong pipelines, especially in commercial real estate.
Noninterest-bearing deposits grew by $147 million (2%) from year-end, with strong new relationship growth, and noninterest expense was $59.1 million (efficiency ratio improved to 46.7%).
Capital position remains robust (tangible common equity ratio at 10%, CET1 at 16.5%), supporting continued share repurchases and potential M&A; management expects loan growth to resume in low single digits by year-end if conditions remain stable.
