Federal regulators have cleared Capital One’s $35 billion takeover of Discover, paving the way for the creation of the largest U.S. credit card company. The deal, expected to close by mid-May, will give Capital One access to Discover’s payment network and a client base of over 300 million cardholders.1

Cadence Bank has agreed to purchase Industry Bancshares, which has faced regulatory scrutiny over its securities portfolio. The deal, valued between $20 million and $60 million in cash, allows Cadence to withdraw if Industry’s equity drops below a set threshold. The acquisition strengthens Cadence’s Texas presence.2

General Mills shares have experienced increased volatility, with recent institutional selling and several analysts lowering price targets. Despite a manageable debt-to-equity ratio, concerns over short-term earnings and investor confidence have led to a more cautious outlook for the consumer staples giant in the near term.3
