Invesco S&P 500 Downside Hedged ETF Price & Performance (PHDG)

Large institutional investors have sharply increased their holdings in the Invesco S&P 500 Downside Hedged ETF (PHDG), with LPL Financial LLC raising its stake by 62.1% in the latest quarter. The ETF, which aims to provide returns uncorrelated with traditional markets, now has a market cap of $105.93 million.12

Recent returns for the Invesco S&P 500 Downside Hedged ETF show a 1-year gain of 0.89% versus the S&P 500’s 8.25%. The ETF’s strategy of mixing equities, volatility futures, and cash has provided some downside protection, but has lagged the broader market over multiple timeframes.32

As of April 22, PHDG’s portfolio consists of 51.6% equities, 28.6% VIX futures, and 19.8% cash. Top equity holdings include Apple, Microsoft, and NVIDIA. The ETF’s dynamic allocation aims to cushion against market swings, though recent performance highlights the challenge of balancing risk and return.32
