FB Financial Corporation has agreed to purchase Southern States Bancshares for approximately $381 million, valuing each Southern States share at $37.64. The merger, expected to close later this year, will expand FB Financial’s presence in Alabama and Georgia, strengthening its regional footprint and market reach.123

Southern States Bancshares stock jumped 9.5% after announcing its merger with FB Financial. The deal, which will see Southern States shareholders receive 0.8 shares of FB Financial stock per share, was met with optimism by investors, though FB Financial shares dipped 2% amid short-term uncertainty about the integration.45

As part of the merger, Southern States’ President Mark Chambers and CFO Lynn Joyce will assume significant roles within the combined company. Key employees will also be retained, reflecting a focus on continuity and stability as the organizations integrate operations and pursue growth in core Southeastern markets.23
