What is Perplexity Labs?
Perplexity Labs is a productivity tool that tackles complex projects on your behalf. It can craft everything from reports and spreadsheets to dashboards and simple web applications - all backed by extensive research and analysis. Perplexity Labs uses tools like deep web browsing, code execution, and chart and image creation to assemble content that would previously have taken days to complete.
How is Perplexity Labs different from regular Perplexity search?
While regular Perplexity search provides answers to specific questions, and the "Research" mode (formerly called "Deep Research") generates comprehensive analyses, Perplexity Labs goes a step further by creating complete projects with multiple components. Labs has access to more advanced tools and can generate files, presentations, images, mini-apps, and other interactive elements that aren't available in the Research mode.
With Labs, you remain in control throughout the process, with the ability to monitor progress, skip tasks, or add new instructions to ensure the final outcome aligns with your goals.
Getting Started with Labs
Pro subscribers can access Labs from the mode selector in the input bar on the Web version, Mac & Windows apps and mobile apps.
Pro subscribers receive 50 Labs queries per month.
Assets Tab
All files created during your workflow — HTML, CSS, JavaScript assets, documents, spreadsheets, charts, or images — are organized in the “Assets” tab. From there, you can easily view and download everything you need to complete your project.

Pro users will receive 50 Labs queries per month and this includes follow-ups in existing Labs Threads. You will be notified when you're close to reaching your monthly limit.
Can I can cancel a search once it was started?
Yes, if you no longer want to perform a Labs search, simply click on the pause button or hit the esc key on your keyboard.
When should I use Labs versus Research?
While Research remains the fastest way to obtain comprehensive answers to in-depth questions-typically within 3 to 5 minutes- Labs mode is designed to invest more time and leverage additional tools, such as advanced file generation and mini-app creation.

Can I set-up notifications to inform me when my answer is ready?
Yes, you can select to enable notifications via this button. Please ensure you have also allowed notification from Perplexity in your browser settings.

Yes, Perplexity Labs can develop and deploy simple interactive web apps directly within an "App" tab of your Labs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This enables the creation of basic dashboards, slideshows, and websites without requiring external development tools.
How long does it take for Perplexity Labs to complete a search?
Perplexity Labs often performs 30 minutes or more of self-supervised work to assemble the information but the exact time depends on the complexity of the question and can be anywhere from a few minutes to nearly an hour.
