Tebi, an Amsterdam-based fintech startup founded by former Adyen CTO Arnout Schuijff, has secured $34 million in Series B funding led by Alphabet's growth fund CapitalG, bringing its total funding to $63 million as it expands its all-in-one platform designed to streamline operations for hospitality businesses.
Arnout Schuijff's entrepreneurial journey began in 1997 when he joined Bibit Global Payment Services as a systems architect, where he honed his expertise in online payments until 2004.1 In 2006, he co-founded Adyen with Pieter van der Does, creating a revolutionary global payment processing platform that would transform how businesses handle online transactions.23 The company's successful IPO in June 2018 catapulted Schuijff into billionaire status, with his 6.4% stake making him worth approximately $3.5 billion by 2021.24
After leaving Adyen in 2020, Schuijff embarked on a new venture by co-founding Tebi in 2021, where he serves as CEO.56 What began as a side project in 2012—when he created a sales app for a bar-owner friend—has evolved into a comprehensive platform for independent retail and hospitality businesses that now processes over €100 million annually.56 In May 2024, Schuijff further expanded his entrepreneurial portfolio by becoming the first investor in Amsterdam-based ticket startup WeTicket.2
The all-in-one hospitality platform that Tebi is developing joins a competitive market of comprehensive solutions designed to streamline hotel and hospitality business operations. These platforms typically integrate multiple essential functions including property management, channel distribution, booking engines, payment processing, and guest relationship management into a single unified system123. The key advantage of such integrated solutions is operational efficiency—hoteliers can manage reservations, pricing, housekeeping, and online distribution channels from one interface rather than juggling multiple disconnected systems34.
What distinguishes these platforms in the market are factors like ease of use, cost-effectiveness, and specialized features. Many providers emphasize their ability to increase direct bookings (reducing commission fees), automate manual processes, and provide data-driven insights for revenue optimization54. For independent hotels and smaller hospitality businesses—Tebi's target market—these all-in-one solutions can level the playing field against larger chains by providing enterprise-level technology at accessible price points while reducing the technical complexity of managing multiple separate systems67.
