Snapchat is introducing a suite of new tools and features to make it easier for creators to create and share content on its platform, including a Timeline Editor for intuitive video editing, templates for creating compilation videos from saved Memories, and the ability to auto-save Stories directly to profiles.
The Timeline Editor represents Snapchat's push to keep creators within its ecosystem rather than using third-party apps like CapCut. This new tool displays videos in a chronological layout, making it simple to trim, move, or rearrange clips with intuitive controls.12 After arranging the sequence, creators can enhance their videos with:
Lenses for visual effects
Music selections from Snapchat's Sounds library
The feature allows users to record videos up to one minute long in multiple segments, giving creators the flexibility to shoot different parts at different times.4 This segmented approach enables individual editing of each clip section, with options to add text, stickers, and other elements to specific segments.4 For those who prefer working with existing content, the Timeline feature also allows importing multiple videos from a device's camera roll to create a single, cohesive Snap.5
Snapchat's Auto-Save Stories function allows users to automatically preserve their Story content to Memories without manual intervention. Enabling this feature is straightforward: tap your profile icon, access Settings via the gear icon, scroll to Memories, select "Auto-Save My Story Snaps," and choose "Auto-Save to Memories."12 Once enabled, all Snaps posted to your Story will be automatically saved, ensuring you never lose precious moments after they disappear from your 24-hour Story timeline.3
The platform is also rolling out an enhanced version of this feature called "Auto-Save Stories to Public Profiles," which will allow creators to automatically save their public Stories directly to their profiles.4 This upcoming feature extends content visibility beyond the standard 24-hour window, giving fans the ability to catch up on and revisit their favorite creator content over time.45 This represents a significant shift from Snapchat's original ephemeral content philosophy, but provides creators with a valuable tool to build a lasting collection of their best moments and maintain content accessibility.
The Snap Star Collab Studio, launched in 2023, serves as a bridge between Snapchat's top creators (known as Snap Stars) and brands looking for authentic partnerships. This turn-key service enables Snap Stars to share their engagement metrics and demographic data with potential advertisers, making it easier to secure brand deals and monetize their content.12 Initially available only in the US, the studio works with four key partners—Whalar, Beeline by Brat TV, Influential, and Studio71—to help brands identify ideal creators for campaigns, execute contracts, and track deliverables.34
The platform has seen remarkable creator growth, with the number of creators posting publicly more than tripling over the past year and nearly 15 billion daily interactions between creators and their audiences.12 For creators, the Collab Studio represents a significant income opportunity, with some influencers earning five to six figures annually through brand partnerships.4 Beyond facilitating collaborations, Snapchat supports creator monetization through revenue-sharing programs across Stories and Spotlight, allowing creators to earn while expressing themselves authentically using Snapchat's creative tools like Lenses and Sounds.15
