The Trump Organization has filed new trademark applications suggesting plans to enter the mobile phone and wireless service industry, according to documents submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office on June 12. The filings, made by DTTM Operations LLC, the entity managing Donald Trump's trademarks, include applications for "TRUMP" and "T1" marks covering mobile phones, wireless services, and retail operations.
The applications represent a potential expansion into telecommunications for Trump's business empire, which has historically focused on real estate, hospitality, and branded merchandise. Filed on an "intent-to-use" basis, the documents indicate serious consideration of launching Trump-branded mobile devices and competing with established carriers like Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile.
The filings detail plans for mobile phones, phone cases, battery chargers, and wireless telecom services, along with retail locations under the Trump brand12. Trademark attorney Josh Gerben, who first identified the applications, noted that while trademark filings don't guarantee product launches, the specificity suggests "serious consideration"2.
However, the "T1" trademark could face legal challenges from T-Mobile, according to Gerben's analysis posted on his law firm's blog1. "It would seem unlikely that T-Mobile could sit back and let the 'T1' trademark proceed without a fight," Gerben wrote, citing potential trademark dilution concerns1. If T-Mobile argues consumers might confuse T1 with its own brand or assume an affiliation, it could raise infringement claims1.
The mobile phone filings add to an aggressive trademark strategy since Trump returned to office in January 2025. According to Gerben's research, Trump-affiliated companies have filed 27 trademark applications as of June 13, covering everything from "MAGA" and "MAR-A-LAGO" to various Truth Social financial products1.
The telecommunications venture would mark a notable departure for the Trump Organization, which operates hotels, golf courses, and real estate developments across multiple countries2. Trump Media & Technology Group, which operates Truth Social, went public in March 2024 after merging with Digital World Acquisition Corp3.
The concept of Trump-branded mobile devices isn't entirely new. In 2021, a 22-year-old entrepreneur launched the "Freedom Phone," a $499 device marketed to Trump supporters that was later revealed to be a rebranded Chinese-manufactured smartphone4.
If the telecommunications plans materialize, they could offer what Gerben described as "a MAGA-branded alternative in the mobile space—offering loyal supporters not just red hats, but possibly red phones for their pockets"1.
