Perplexity's Slack integration lets you bring Computer into your Slack workspace. With Perplexity’s Slack App, you can search the web and your Slack conversations without leaving Slack, and get cited, well-formatted answers in seconds.
How It Works
Chat with Computer — Start a conversation in a DM or group chat. Ask anything, just like you would a teammate.
Give Computer tasks — Prompt in natural language. Computer deploys subagents to handle research, writing, data analysis, and more — automatically.
Computer works — It browses, researches, creates content, and connects your tools in the background.
Iterate and improve — Keep guiding Computer as it works, or kick off a new task entirely. It remembers past context across sessions.
What You Can Do
With the Slack App, you can do the following:
Ask any question — Get web-sourced, cited answers directly in Slack threads
Search your Slack workspace — Perplexity can search through messages in your DMs, private channels, and public channels you have access to
Get cited sources — Every answer includes numbered citations linking back to web sources or Slack messages so you can verify and explore further
Work in threads — Responses are posted in threads to keep your channels organized
Attach files — Share documents with your questions for richer context (up to 25 MB per file)
What Your Team Can Do
End-to-End Workflow Automation Across Apps — Computer orchestrates complete workflows by breaking down complex projects into subtasks and routing them to specialized AI models. For example, it can take a product spec from Notion, break it down into Linear tickets, and post updates in relevant Slack channels. You can ask Computer to do so on a daily basis too.
Multi-App Research and Content Creation — Computer conducts deep research using its integration with hundreds of apps including Gmail, Outlook, GitHub, Slack, Notion, Snowflake, and Databricks. It can research, design, write documentation, build slides, and send emails while working autonomously in the background.
Long-Running Project Management — Computer can run tasks for hours, managing multiple active projects simultaneously with persistent memory. It remembers past work, maintains context across sessions, and can execute scheduled tasks while you're offline.

Asking Questions
To use Computer in Slack, send a message just as you would to anyone else in Slack. Perplexity will reply in the same conversation.
Examples:
“What were the key takeaways from our Q4 planning discussion?” (Searches Slack messages)
“What is the latest guidance from the SEC on AI disclosures?” (Searches the web)
“Summarize what our team discussed about the product launch in #general this week” (combines Slack + web context)
“Identify the source of new subscriptions and which channels are bringing in the most customers.” (Uses the Snowflake connector)
“Find all discount codes online that violate our terms of service. Pull the data and tell me how many of them are redeemed per day.”

Status indicator — You'll see "Answering..." while Perplexity processes your question
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do if Computer in Slack is not responding to my messages?
If Computer in Slack isn’t responding, you may be using an outdated version of the app, particularly if you installed it before March 13, 2026. Try reinstalling the app in your Slack workspace to make sure you are using the latest version.
Does Perplexity store my Slack messages?
Perplexity accesses Slack messages in real-time to answer questions but does not permanently store your Slack data. Context is deleted after each query is processed.
Can the Slack App access private channels?
The Slack App can only search messages in channels and DMs that the requesting user has access to. It follows Slack's native permission model.
Is there a limit to how many questions I can ask?
Slack App usage counts toward each user's Computer limits on their Perplexity plan. You will need credits to use the Slack App.
Why do I need a paid Slack plan?
Slack requires a paid plan for third-party app installations. This is a Slack requirement, not a Perplexity one.
Can I use the Slack App and the Slack Connector at the same time?
Yes! The Slack App lets you ask questions inside Slack, while the Slack Connector lets you search Slack content from Perplexity's web app. They complement each other.
