Overview
Computer can design and ship a complete voice-to-text writing assistant that turns fast, messy speech into clean, publication-ready text. It handles everything from microphone access and live transcription to AI-powered editing, tone control, and personal dictionaries so users can think out loud and still get polished writing
Key output
Computer scaffolded a complete web app that connects to the device microphone, handles permissions, and uses the Web Speech API for streaming speech recognition. To work around sandboxed iframe limitations, it added an “Open in New Tab” control so the app can request microphone access from a full browser context.
During recording, it renders a live transcript with interim words in a muted style and final recognized text in a stronger style, so users always know that capture is working.
Once recording stops, Computer runs the raw transcript through an AI editing pipeline that removes filler words and stutters, fixes capitalization and punctuation, and breaks up long sentences into readable chunks.
It wired a tone slider so that changing the casual–formal setting triggers a re-processing of the text, adjusting contractions and word choice to match the selected tone. It also implemented a personal dictionary and session history: edits to unusual words are saved with toast confirmations, each session stores raw and edited text plus tone level, and users can quickly copy polished output or toggle between raw and edited views.
Tips
- Tighten the product persona – Add a line about who this is for and their workflow, for example: “Design this for founders who brain-dump meeting notes and want publishable summaries in seconds.”
- Specify editing controls – Be explicit about which edits are mandatory vs optional, for example: “Always remove filler words and stutters, but keep domain jargon and proper nouns untouched.”
- Define success states – Tell Computer how to validate the build, for example: “Include a visible mic-permission error state and a short inline guide that appears the first time the user clicks record.”
