What information is accessible in Perplexity?
After logging in, you can select specific files that will be uploaded as attachments in Perplexity. The content and associated metadata of these files will be synced for search purposes.
How often are files synced?
On the Pro plan, file syncing won’t be available. If you have made changes to the original file you will have to re-upload it
How is my account security maintained?
All your credentials are encrypted both at rest and in transit, following SOC 2 Type II security standards.
Where is my data stored?
Your synced files are stored in AWS S3.
Will my data be used to train AI models?
No. Files from your connected accounts (Drive, Dropbox) will never be used to train models.
Can I share answers based on my synced files?
Yes, you can share answers directly with other users. However, they'll only be able to view source files in citations if they already have access to those files in the original storage service.
What file types are supported?
Following formats are currently support:
Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets
PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, PPTX
MD, JSON, and TXT files
Audio and Video file fomats
Why can't I select certain files?
This might happen because:
The file exceeds our 25MB size limit
The file type isn't supported
Browser extensions may be blocking the file picker (try disabling extensions or using an Incognito window)
Why can't I connect my cloud storage service?
If you're trying to connect to organization-managed storage, verify that your organization has granted permission for external access. Enterprise workspace users may be restricted if the service has been disabled by a workspace administrator.
Who can access files?
Files synced to your personal repository are only accessible by you. Files synced to a shared space can be searched by anyone with space access, but only those with proper permissions can view the file contents.
